Antibody Purification

Magne® Protein G/A Beads offer a simple, rapid method for purification of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies that is scalable for manual or automated approaches to antibody purification. The beads have a high capacity for binding immunoglobulins from cell culture, ascites and serum samples. They are composed of iron encapsulated by macroporous cellulose, resulting in low non-specific binding, and have excellent magnetic properties that allow rapid and efficient capture using a variety of magnetic stands.

Magne® Streptavidin Beads have high specificity and high capacity for binding biotinylated antibodies and proteins and can be used for a variety of applications including pharmacokinetic studies of therapeutic antibodies. Biotinylated antibodies or antigens immobilized on High Capacity Magne® Streptavidin Beads can enrich therapeutic antibodies from serum or plasma, thus providing high purity samples for analysis by mass spectrometry.

Antibody Purification Basics

Polyclonal antibodies, monoclonal antibodies and antibody fragments are usually purified by affinity chromatography from serum, ascites fluid or cell culture medium. Resins containing an immobilized ligand (e.g., protein A, protein G or protein L) are used to capture antibodies and antibody fragments. Antibody affinity chromatography is based on the high affinity and specificity of protein A and protein G for the Fc-region of IgG from many species.
