In Vitro Transcription

In vitro transcription products include RNA synthesis systems, nuclear extracts, ribonucleotides, cloning vectors and supporting products for transcription, primer extension and gene expression studies.

Riboprobe® Systems are used to synthesize high-specific-activity single-stranded RNA probes or microgram quantities of defined RNA transcripts from cloned DNA inserts.

The RiboMAX™ RNA Production Systems generate large quantities of capped or uncapped RNA transcripts suitable for in vitro or in vivo translation reactions. The T7 RiboMAX™ Express Large-Scale RNA Production System is an in vitro transcription system designed for the consistent production of large amounts of RNA in a short amount of time. Milligram amounts of high-quality RNA transcripts up to 14kb have been generated using this kit.

An Introduction to RNA Synthesis Methods

In vitro RNA synthesis methods use bacteriophage DNA-dependent RNA polymerase such as T7, T3 or SP6 RNA polymerase to synthesize RNA from a DNA template. The template DNA for in vitro transcription reactions includes an RNA polymerase promoter upstream of the sequence of interest. The corresponding RNA polymerase is then used to produce synthetic RNA transcripts for use as hybridization probes, as templates for in vitro translation applications, or in structural studies (X-ray crystallography and NMR). Synthesized RNA transcripts are also used for studying cellular RNA functionality in processes such as splicing, RNA processing, intracellular transport, viral infectivity and translation.
