Biomarker Discovery

Biomarkers are used to measure cancer risk and indicate the presence of a tumor in a tissue. They reflect the molecular mechanisms driving the development of a tumor and could be used to influence treatment decisions. Circulating cell-free DNA (ccfDNA) has received recent attention as a promising biomarker present in blood plasma.

Circulating Cell-Free DNA

ccfDNA is an important biomarker for certain tumors. The quantity and sequences of ccfDNA molecules found in plasma can indicate the presence of a tumor and offer valuable insights into its characteristics.

Research in circulating cell-free DNA (ccfDNA) has become a key area of interest in the study of normal and disease states. In this webinar, Promega scientist Douglas White discusses the history and basics of ccfDNA, such as:

  • What is it?
  • How do laboratories commonly extract ccfDNA?
  • What are typical applications for ccfDNA?
